My name is Jenny Stevenson and I live and work in Derby, England. I gained a BA (Hons) in Visual Studies from Norwich School of Art and Design in 2000 and am passionate about continuing with learning. In 2003, I took an Artists Book course at Camberwell School of Art which transformed my work and inspired my love of creating books and paper creations.
My approach to artwork is playful, exploring movement and manipulating shapes, space, tone and form. I combine the use of photography, printmaking, craft and sculpture with meticulous craftsmanship and enjoy merging 2D with 3D. Translucency and reflections also play a large part in my work by visually drawing the viewer through the spaces I've created.
My style is formed from a wide range of influences from Schwitters, Duchamp, Cornell, Matisse, Charley Harper and Graham Rawle, to Board Games, Miniature objects, Embroidery and Quiltmaking. I love visiting galleries and looking through my bookcase which is bursting with inspirational art books that I've collected over the years.
I have been a part of numerous group exhibitions across the UK including Northampton and Milton Keynes with weloveyourbooks, Green Door Printmaking Studio in Derby and Leeds Artists Book Fair. I have artwork in the Northampton College Artists Book Collection, and been featured in Bound and lettered magazine. I was awarded 3rd prize in the Sheffield Artists Book Prize Exhibition in 2009.
